Practical Home Improvement Suggestions to Save Energy and ...

Home Improvement Are Essentiial For Owners. Whenever you start talking about replacement windows and deciding you have to discover all there is to it; keep in mind it will not be an overnight task. As we have sometimes heard, and maybe you too, that if you do not immediately recognize there is a lot more that should be learned then you may stop at what you do know. There is a more than good chance that what may be useful to you in your situation is a little beyond the immediate scope of what is normally found online or anywhere else. Missing critical information can lead to complications, and then you are still trying to figure out what is going on. Anytime you are reading or learning about something, you have to widen your perspective so you have a more effective base from which to proceed.

There has definitely been a movement toward people doing green home improvement projects over the past few years. This isn?t all too surprising though, considering the fact that the cost of fossil fuels is always going up. Lots of average homeowners have taken the plunge and invested in their home so that in the years to come they can save money. And if the house has an efficient and green energy system the overall value will go up. Even taking proactive measures such as installing Energy Star rated windows and doors will save you money and add more value, too. If you?ve never considered doing these things then maybe you should.

If you?re looking for an investment with an excellent return and plan to stay in your home a little while then double pane windows are definitely the way to go. Of course you should also consider your location and determine if it is really necessary. But if you go through extremes of cold and hot seasons or primarily one of the two, then these windows can be a real blessing to have. In addition to serving to insulate the windows from the weather outside these windows serve as a barrier for sound too. These panes have varying widths between ?inch and one inch. Argon, an inert gas, is usually used to fill this space. These few considerations will make a difference in your information as they relate to interior designer salary. They are by no means all there is to learn as you will quickly discover. Nonetheless, you will find them to be of great utility in your search for information. However, we always stress that anyone takes a closer examination at the overall big picture as it applies to this subject. Continue reading because you do not want to miss these critical knowledge items.

Redoing the kitchen countertops can give your home more value depending on the materials you pick out and how it looks in the end. If your goal is to keep them for a long time and you want a material that is elegant and stylish, then choose tile, granite or marble. Also think about the everyday treatment that your countertops will receive.

Each of those three have diverse material properties, and that means they will react differently depending on the usage conditions. Yes, they can be considered to be very expensive, but they are very stylish, chic and long lasting if you maintain them in the right manner.

The pipes that are in and outside of your home would be considered as another lackluster home improvement. You can think about them in terms of what they do like draining water or bringing water in.

You should get them inspected on a yearly basis for possible leaks, corrosion or damage. If there is hard water in your home, then there is a huge possibility that mineral deposits can build up in your home. In addition, your hot water pipes should have some type of insulation. If so, then you can quickly inspect the insulation when you push it aside to look at the pipes.

These simple projects not only make your home a better place to be but they can also add value to your home as well. Whenever you need to hire professionals to do the job properly, be sure you go with proven and established businesses that will guarantee their work.

You have read through this article and have a better appreciation about real estate broker salary, hopefully. The range of all that is involved with it, though, would be a very difficult thing for anybody to foresee. Once that occurs, of course there will be issues that appear that you were not expecting. Essentially that should clue you in about the need for added investigation. That is just one of the great things about the net ? there is plenty of information out there. As you proceed along that path, you must always verify sources and presentations made, as you know. We have all seen sites that sure looked pretty suspect with their content, and you always need to pay attention.

Oil falls toward $100 ahead of US supply data

(AP) ? Oil prices fell toward $100 a barrel Tuesday in Asia as investors look to the latest U.S. crude supply figures for clues about demand strength.

Benchmark crude for March delivery was down 37 cents at $100.54 a barrel at midmorning Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract rose $2.24 to settle at $100.91 on Monday.

Brent crude was steady at $117.93 a barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange in London.

Oil has hovered near $100 for several months amid signs the U.S. economy is improving. However, crude supplies have been rising, suggesting demand remains weak.

Traders will be closely watching the latest inventory data when the American Petroleum Institute reports later Tuesday and the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration announces its weekly supply data Wednesday.

Analysts surveyed by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos., predict crude inventories rose 1.9 million barrels last week.

Analysts are concerned that rising U.S. gasoline prices, which hit a five-month high last week, could undermine consumer spending and economic growth.

"These price increases come at a difficult time for the economy," energy consultant Cameron Hanover said in a report. "Jobs are just starting to come back and housing is starting to breathe its first breaths of life in years, and gasoline prices are back at it, ready to scuttle economic recovery through a pervasive tax that catches everyone."

In other energy trading, heating oil was down 0.4 cents at $3.16 per gallon and gasoline futures slid 0.2 cent to $3.00 per gallon. Natural gas gained 1.2 cents to $2.44 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Britain frees radical cleric Abu Qatada (Reuters)

LONDON (Reuters) ? A radical cleric once described as "Osama bin Laden's right-hand man in Europe" was freed from a British prison to live under virtual house arrest on Monday after a court ruled that his detention without trial was unlawful.

The Jordanian preacher known as Abu Qatada must wear an electronic tag to allow the police to keep track of him, spend 22 hours a day at his family home and is banned from using the Internet and mobile phones.

Twice convicted in his absence in Jordan of involvement in terrorist plots, Britain says he is still a national security risk and should be deported before London hosts the Olympic Games in July and August.

Britain says videotapes of his sermons were found in a German apartment used by three of the people who carried out al Qaeda's September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

Qatada was released from the high-security Long Lartin prison in central England on Monday night, a source familiar with the case said. The government declined to comment.

Television pictures showed him being driven out of the prison in a van.

The 51-year-old, whose real name is Omar Othman, has been in and out of jail since he was first detained without charge under British anti-terrorism laws in 2002.

Qatada, a father-of-five who had been living in London, denies belonging to al Qaeda. If he returns to Jordan, his lawyers say he risks being tortured or retried using evidence extracted from others using torture.

Under strict bail conditions, he will only be allowed out of the house for two hours each day and visitors must vetted. Qatada cannot go to mosques or lead prayer sessions.

His bail papers say that if he bumps into a friend in the street, he must "after any initial greeting, disengage himself from the situation whether by explaining the terms of his bail order or by making an excuse."

The European Court of Human Rights ruled last week that his detention without charge was unlawful and that Britain must not send him to Jordan.

Seven European judges ruled that Qatada would not receive a fair trial in Jordan because evidence against him may have been obtained using torture.

His case has been a thorn in the side of successive British governments.

Prime Minister David Cameron, under pressure from some in his Conservative Party to stand up to Europe, said last week it was "completely unacceptable" that Britain can not detain Qatada or deport him.

"We are committed to removing him from the country. We want to see him deported and we are looking at all the options for doing that," Cameron's spokesman told reporters on Monday.

The Home Office (interior ministry) and Qatada's lawyers made no comment.

Human rights groups say he should stand trial in Britain. That is highly unlikely due to worries that some of the evidence against him was extracted using torture. Ministers also fear that a trial could compromise the work of the security services who investigated Qatada.

What to Consider for Your Travel

Spending some days or weeks in a new place is what most people like to do. Because of the many complications and stressful tasks in offices or schools, everybody deserves a good vacation whereas a person can get relaxation and comfort. For students and teachers, the ideal vacation is during summer holidays. For workers and business owners, it requires them to take a vacation leave in order to get holidays. Whether you are studying, working or managing a business, you need to consider a few things if you plan to travel. Here are reminders and tips that you have to consider.

The Destination

Summer holidays are very common especially to tourists who live in Western countries. They are mostly looking forward to go to the beach for a swim, a sun tan, a boat ride, etc.

there are also other vacationers and backpackers who opt to spend the holidays during winter months. This allows them to ski, ride on a snowmobile, climb a snowy mountain and do other snow activities. Well, your choice of activities and kind of vacation depends on the destination where you can spend the holidays.

The Itinerary

It is also essential that you plan ahead regarding the things you want to see and activities to do. For summer holidays, travelers usually spend some time at the beach, resorts with pools and other places wherein they can relax under the sun with cool refreshments on their tables. If the trip takes place during spring, almost anything you want to do is possible as long as the chosen destination has those travel stuffs available.

During fall, sightseeing is the most common activity. You can go to museums, amusement or recreational parks, historical sites and even malls. If you choose to go out for winter, you probably have nothing in mind but to play in the snow like skiing and riding on a snowmobile. Whatever kind of adventure you want for your trip, ensure to make a plan for it.

The Date

The time, day and month are important factors in making a holiday tour plan. You must be able to choose a good date that coincides with the season to ensure the temperature or climate is not a problem. Most travelers choose dates during off-peak season because they are able to spend less. However, this does not mean that you have to ignore peak seasons as well. A lot of vacationers also spend the holidays during peak season because there are more things to see and do. With that said, it all depends on your own preference if you like to have winter or summer holidays.

The Luggage

The last thing you have to do is to pack all the things you need for your trip. Make sure that you get each and every item that is useful for your activities and itinerary tour. Include the most important things to pack which are passport, visa, travel insurance, mobile phone and first aid kits.

These are just some of the basic things you must prepare if you are planning to take a trip. You have to remind yourself all the important things to achieve for a successful and an enjoyable vacation.

New Jersey Senate approves gay marriage; veto looms (Reuters)

TRENTON, New Jersey (Reuters) ? New Jersey's Democratic-controlled state Senate approved a same-sex marriage bill on Monday but New Jersey was unlikely to become the eighth state in the country to approve gay marriage as Republican Gov. Chris Christie has promised to veto it.

The state Assembly was expected to approve the measure on Thursday and send it to Christie, one of the country's leading Republicans and a possible vice-presidential candidate.

The Senate vote of 24 to 16 came on the same day Washington state Gov. Christine Gregoire was scheduled to sign a bill making Washington the seventh state to legalize same-sex marriage.

New Jersey's Democratic leadership, which controls both houses of the legislature, has made gay marriage a top priority this session, saying the state's civil union law does not adequately protect same-sex couples.

Though the bill had majority support in the legislature, it was unlikely to have the two-thirds majority needed to override Christie's promised veto.

"The word marriage is society's universal civil and legal acknowledgment of a loving relationship," Sen. Loretta Weinberg, the bill's sponsor, said during the debate. "It's time for New Jersey to get on the right side of history and enact true marriage equality for every one of our residents."

In a tacit acknowledgment of how long the fight might continue, she added, "With enough votes, in the future, we can override the governor's veto."

Passing the measure would put increased political scrutiny on Christie, a supporter of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Christie's fortunes within the party have risen since he captured the Democratic-leaning state by unseating former Governor Jon Corzine in 2009.

Gay marriage is already allowed in New York, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont plus the District of Columbia.

A Gallup poll last year found for the first time a majority of Americans believe gay marriage should be legalized, with 53 percent in favor.

Opposition to same-sex marriage remains a staple of the more conservative wing of the Republican Party. In moderate New Jersey, one senator spoke out against the bill during the debate, Sen. Gerald Cardinale.

"This bill seeks to change thousands of years of human history by redefining, reordering our thinking," Cardinale said.

The bill would "create discrimination against many other co-habiting couples," such as siblings who have decided to live as a household, he said.

"If we open marriage to some same-sex couples, in the name of anti-discrimination, why not to all couples?" Cardinale said.

New Jersey's high court ruled in 2006 same-sex couples must be guaranteed the same rights as heterosexual married couples but left it up to the legislature to write the law. The legislature approved a civil unions law for same-sex couples later that year.

Gay couples argued the state had created a two-tier system that was inherently unequal.

"Civil unions are a failed experiment. They don't promote equality. They only prolong stigma," said Senate President Stephen Sweeney, a supporter who abstained from voting on the measure two years ago.

A new lawsuit, which challenges New Jersey's civil union law, is pending.

Whitney Houston, superstar of records, films, dies (AP)

LOS ANGELES ? Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice was ravaged by drug use and her regal image was ruined by erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen said Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. Saturday in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton. A Los Angeles County coroner's official said early Sunday that her body had been taken to a morgue.

"There were no obvious signs of any criminal intent," Rosen said.

Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said the cause of death was unknown.

Rosen said police received a 911 call from hotel security about Houston at 3:43 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics who were already at the hotel because of a Grammy party were not able to resuscitate her, he said.

Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night ? the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned and where she will be remembered Sunday in a tribute by Jennifer Hudson, organizers said.

Her longtime mentor Clive Davis went ahead with his annual concert at the same hotel where her body was found. He dedicated the evening to her and asked for a moment of silence as a photo of the singer, hands wide open, looking to the sky, appeared on the screen.

Houston was supposed to appear at the gala, and Davis had told The Associated Press that she would perhaps perform: "It's her favorite night of the year ... (so) who knows by the end of the evening," he said.

Houston had been at rehearsals for the show Thursday, coaching singers Brandy and Monica, according to a person who was at the event but was not authorized to speak publicly about it. The person said Houston looked disheveled, was sweating profusely and liquor and cigarettes could be smelled on her breath.

Two days ago, she performed at a pre-Grammy party with singer Kelly Price. Singer Kenny Lattimore hosted the event, and said Houston sang the gospel classic "Jesus Loves Me" with Price, her voice registering softly, not with the same power it had at its height.

Lattimore said Houston was gregarious and was in a good mood, surrounded by friends and family, including daughter Bobbi Kristina.

"She just seemed like she was having a great night that night," said Lattimore, who said he was in shock over her death.

Aretha Franklin, her godmother, also said she was stunned.

"I just can't talk about it now," Franklin said in a short statement. "It's so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen."

The Rev. Al Sharpton said he would call for a national prayer Sunday morning during a service at Second Baptist Church in Los Angeles.

"The morning of the Grammys, the world should pause and pray for the memory of a gifted songbird," Sharpton said in a statement.

In a statement, Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow said Houston "was one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades."

At her peak, Houston was the golden girl of the music industry. From the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world's best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful and peerless vocals rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale."

She had the perfect voice and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.

She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.

But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.

"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.

It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.

She seemed to be born into greatness. In addition to being Franklin's goddaughter, she was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston and the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick.

Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.

"The time that I first saw her singing in her mother's act in a club ... it was such a stunning impact," Davis told "Good Morning America."

"To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine," he added.

Before long, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with "Whitney Houston," which sold millions and spawned hit after hit. "Saving All My Love for You" brought her her first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. "How Will I Know," "You Give Good Love" and "The Greatest Love of All" also became hit singles.

Another multiplatinum album, "Whitney," came out in 1987 and included hits like "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

The New York Times wrote that Houston "possesses one of her generation's most powerful gospel-trained voices, but she eschews many of the churchier mannerisms of her forerunners. She uses ornamental gospel phrasing only sparingly, and instead of projecting an earthy, tearful vulnerability, communicates cool self-assurance and strength, building pop ballads to majestic, sustained peaks of intensity."

Her decision not to follow the more soulful inflections of singers like Franklin drew criticism by some who saw her as playing down her black roots to go pop and reach white audiences. The criticism would become a constant refrain through much of her career. She was even booed during the "Soul Train Awards" in 1989.

"Sometimes it gets down to that, you know?" she told Katie Couric in 1996. "You're not black enough for them. I don't know. You're not R&B enough. You're very pop. The white audience has taken you away from them."

Some saw her 1992 marriage to former New Edition member and soul crooner Bobby Brown as an attempt to respond to those critics. It seemed to be an odd union; she was seen as pop's pure princess while he had a bad-boy image and already had children of his own. (The couple had one daughter, Bobbi Kristina, born in 1993.) Over the years, he would be arrested several times, on charges including DUI and failure to pay child support.

But Houston said their true personalities were not as far apart as people may have believed.

"When you love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place," she told Rolling Stone in 1993. "You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that's their image. It's part of them, it's not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody's angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy."

Brown was getting ready to perform at a New Edition reunion tour in Southaven, Miss., as news spread about Houston's death. The group went ahead with its performance, though Brown appeared overcome with emotion when his voice cracked at the beginning of a ballad and he left the stage.

Before his departure, he told the sell-out crowd: "First of all, I want to tell you that I love you all. Second, I would like to say, I love you, Whitney. The hardest thing for me to do is to come on this stage."

Brown said he decided to perform because fans had shown their loyalty to the group for more than 25 years. During an intermission, one of Houston's early hits, "You Give Good Love," played over the speakers. Fans stood up and began singing along.

It would take several years for the public to see the "down and dirty" side of Houston. Her moving 1991 rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl, amid the first Gulf War, set a new standard and once again reaffirmed her as America's sweetheart.

In 1992, she became a star in the acting world with "The Bodyguard." Despite mixed reviews, the story of a singer (Houston) guarded by a former Secret Service agent (Kevin Costner) was an international success.

It also gave her perhaps her most memorable hit: a searing, stunning rendition of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You," which sat atop the charts for weeks. It was Grammy's record of the year and best female pop vocal, and the "Bodyguard" soundtrack was named album of the year.

She returned to the big screen in 1995-96 with "Waiting to Exhale" and "The Preacher's Wife." Both spawned soundtrack albums, and another hit studio album, "My Love Is Your Love," in 1998, brought her a Grammy for best female R&B vocal for the cut "It's Not Right But It's Okay."

But during these career and personal highs, Houston was using drugs. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2009, she said by the time "The Preacher's Wife" was released, "(doing drugs) was an everyday thing. ... I would do my work, but after I did my work, for a whole year or two, it was every day. ... I wasn't happy by that point in time. I was losing myself."

In the interview, Houston blamed her rocky marriage to Brown, which included a charge of domestic abuse against Brown in 1993. They divorced in 2007.

Houston would go to rehab twice before she would declare herself drug-free to Winfrey in 2009. But in the interim, there were missed concert dates, a stop at an airport due to drugs, and public meltdowns.

She was so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumors spread she had died the next day. Her crude behavior and jittery appearance on Brown's reality show, "Being Bobby Brown," was an example of her sad decline. Her Sawyer interview, where she declared "crack is whack," was often parodied. She dropped out of the spotlight for a few years.

Houston staged what seemed to be a successful comeback with the 2009 album "I Look To You." The album debuted on the top of the charts, and would eventually go platinum.

Things soon fell apart. A concert to promote the album on "Good Morning America" went awry as Houston's voice sounded ragged and off-key. She blamed an interview with Winfrey for straining her voice.

A world tour launched overseas, however, only confirmed suspicions that Houston had lost her treasured gift, as she failed to hit notes and left many fans unimpressed; some walked out. Canceled concert dates raised speculation that she may have been abusing drugs, but she denied those claims and said she was in great shape, blaming illness for cancellations.

Houston was to make her return to film in the remake of the classic movie "Sparkle." Filming on the movie, which stars former "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks, recently wrapped.

Simon Cowell told CNN's Piers Morgan on Saturday night that he had been considering Houston as a possible judge on the U.S. version of his talent competition, "The X Factor."

"She would have been the ultimate, ultimate mentor to any contestant coming on the show," Cowell said.

New US sanctions on Iran aim to head off Israel (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Additional U.S. sanctions on Iran are more significant for their timing than their immediate effect on Iran's economy, coming as the United States and its allies are arguing that Israel should hold off on any military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities to allow more time for sanctions to work.

The U.S. ordered tough new penalties Monday to give U.S. banks additional powers to freeze assets linked to the Iranian government and close loopholes that officials say Iran has used to move money despite earlier restrictions imposed by the U.S. and Europe.

Israelis officials have been open about their worry that Iran could be on the brink of a bomb by this summer and that this spring offers the last window of opportunity to destroy bomb-related facilities. Many Israeli officials believe that sanctions only give Iran time to move its nuclear program underground, out of reach of Israeli military strikes.

Nonetheless, the sanctions were endorsed Tuesday by Israel's hawkish foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman.

"We appreciate the very crucial decision regarding the sanctions," Lieberman told reporters in Washington, in between meetings with U.S. senators. "We are awaiting that the Iranians, they will give up their nuclear ambitions," said Lieberman, who also met with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said the sanctions are not doing enough. "We are pleased to see increasing sanctions but so far they have not been deterred from their course," he said of Iranian leaders.

Like previous economic penalties, these are intended to persuade Iran to back off what the West contends is a drive to build a nuclear bomb. Israel increasingly is concerned that sanctions will never be enough to make Iran drop what has become a national priority for a clerical regime that has vowed to wipe Israel off the map.

The faster and more effectively the sanctions can be seen to work, the better the case to shelve any plan by Israel to bomb Iran, a pre-emptory move that could ignite a new Mideast war. Taking this initial step against the Iranian Central Bank, the first time the U.S. has directly gone after that major institution, is one way the Obama administration can show momentum now.

In Tehran, Ramin Mehmanparast, the foreign ministry spokesman, dismissed the sanctions as "propaganda." He said Iran's central bank has no financial transactions with the United States and would not be affected by the measures. "Many of these (U.S.) activities are in the sphere of psychological war and propaganda, and they cannot affect our work," he said.

"Many of these (U.S.) activities are in the sphere of psychological war and propaganda, and they cannot affect our work," he said.

Israel considers Iran to be its most dangerous enemy and has vowed to prevent it from going nuclear. But an Israeli official in Jerusalem on Monday said the country's prime minister has told Cabinet members not to be so outspoken about the possibility of attacking Iran.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was discussing a closed meeting.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself often has commented about keeping all options on the table in dealing with Iran.

The new, stricter sanctions, authorized in legislation that President Barack Obama signed in December, will be enforced under an order he signed only now.

The U.S. and Europe want to deprive Iran of the oil income it needs to run its government and pay for the nuclear program. But many experts believe Iran will be able to find other buyers outside Europe.

The European Union announced last month it would ban the import of Iranian crude oil starting in July. The U.S. doesn't buy Iranian oil, but last month it placed sanctions on Iran's banks to make it harder for the nation to sell crude. The U.S., however, has delayed implementing those sanctions for at least six months because it is worried about sending oil prices higher at a time when the world economy is struggling. Iran exports about 3 percent of the world's oil.

White House spokesman Jay Carney denied that Monday's unexpected announcement of new banking sanctions was a sign of heightened worry about an Israeli attack.

"There has been a steady increase in our sanctions activity and this is part of that escalation," he said.

Carney said U.S. sanctions on Iran already are squeezing Iran's economy and have exacerbated tensions within the Iranian leadership.

"There is no question that the impact of the isolation on Iran and the economic sanctions on Iran have caused added turmoil within Iran," he said.

Iran is the world's third-largest exporter of crude oil, giving its leaders financial resources and leverage to withstand outside pressure. Last year, Iran generated $100 billion in revenue from oil, up from $20 billion a decade ago, according to IHS CERA, an energy consulting firm.

If Iranian oil is prevented from getting to market, other suppliers could make up the difference. The U.S. has been pressuring other Middle East and African nations to step up production for sale to Europe. Saudi Arabia has said it could increase production to make up for any lost Iranian crude.

Iran's disputed nuclear program became a global concern more than five years ago, when the extent of the country's research and uranium enrichment began to be known. Since then a web of international economic and other sanctions have failed to stop Iran's progress toward a point when it could build one or more nuclear devices.

U.S. intelligence agencies say Iran is indeed close to that ability but has not yet decided to go ahead. Iran says its nuclear program is peaceful and denounces sanctions as aggression.

The White House previously had said it would take months to evaluate the likely effect on the fragile global economy before taking the next large steps, including new penalties on the Central Bank.

Now, U.S. institutions are required to seize any Iranian state assets they come across, rather than rejecting the transaction involved.

The value of Iranian assets affected by the new order was not clear. Iran does almost no direct business with the United States after three decades of enmity, but its money moves through the world financial system and its oil is sold in dollars.

?Life With Woody? ten inspirational quotes than can increase your ...

It could possibly take just a little coffee or almost certainly several rounds of beer or any other booze you could get your hands on on the subject of relaxing soon after a hard day?s function. Well, yeah I?m guilty about that one as well, unless I?m caught dead wearing a lampshade over my head following several rounds of vodka? half-naked! Okay, poor example and I apologize to everyone reading this after obtaining nightmares about me in that state of drunken stupor.

Just do not ask how it happened, please.

But what?s actually intriguing is that how do individuals go by means of the usual part of life when faced with vein-popping tension? I mean, the new age thing like Zen or yoga is one of the superior items and it basically works. Is there room for the intellectual side of persons who can basically smell the roses-in-a-can even though on the move? It type of had me thinking that there genuinely should be something in this ?mind-over-matter? thing.

Humor is indeed the most beneficial medicine there is certainly whenever you might be. I mean any individual can pay great income to listen to a comedian just to make you wet your pants after laughing so difficult. Regardless of of what?s been happening, and to those who has gone although the ordeal, it is better to just laugh whilst facing the troubles having a clear mind than anger having a clouded vision. 1 of my favorite celebrities of all time may perhaps have to be Woody Allen. Now this is 1 guy who provides you the in-your-face bluntness that he pulls out with gusto, even without having even attempting. You may talk just about something having a man, and he?s bound to mock the subject and you will end up laughing rather than becoming upset about it.

Woody Allen has this to say:

1. ?Money is superior than poverty, if only for financial reasons.? It sounds great to me, I mean the practicality of all issues does involve dollars but it doesn?t have to take an arm along with a leg to obtain it.

two. ?I believe there is some thing available watching us. Sadly, it is the government.? ?Nuff said.

3. ?There are worse things in life than death. Have you ever spent an evening with an insurance salesman?? This happens to be one of the classic ones. I mean the issue about life?s small complications is not all that poor, until ?he? shows up.

Positive, relationships can get complex, or does have its complications that probably any author about relationships is bound to discover it soon. We follow what our heart desires, unless you?re talking about the heart as in the heart that pump blood all through your body.

four. ?Love may be the answer, but whilst you?re waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty fascinating questions.? And if you want more, just keep on asking!

5. ?A rapidly word about oral contraception. I asked a girl to go to bed with me, she said ?no?.? It sounds, ?practical?, I feel.

And in relation to everyday life, he truly knows the best way to make the top out of every doable scenario, and it doesn?t involve a lawsuit if he strikes a nerve.

6. ?Basically my wife was immature. I?d be at property inside the bath and she?d come in and sink my boats.? I by no means had a boat in my bathtub just before. Just staring at it whilst soaking in hot water makes me seasick already.

7. ?I am not afraid of death, I just don?t need to be there when it happens.? If it rains, it pours.

8. ?I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose.? It could get worse when you are guzzling on beer? or mouthwash, and it happened to me once!

9. ?If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.? At the very least he doesn?t smite us with lightning, and I?m thankful for that.

And regardless of of what may happen to all of us within the next ten, twenty, or even thirty years, I guess we all have to see points in a different kind of light and not just perspective. I cannot appear to imagine life with out any piece of wisdom that could guide us. No matter whether we?re religious or not, it takes extra courage to accept your fears and understand how you can deal with them is all that matters with regards to even just getting along.

And to sum issues up, here is the last nugget of wisdom to go by? however, whenever, and wherever we might be.

ten. ?The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you?ve, instead of what you don?t have.?

Ciao!

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) ? Republican presidential challenger Rick Santorum is hoping that his weeks of criticism of GOP front-runner Mitt Romney will pay off Tuesday when Colorado and Minnesota hold nominating caucuses. Romney, in turn, is looking to continue his winning streak after back-to-back victories in Florida and Nevada last week.

The outcome of Colorado and Minnesota isn't likely to dramatically change the dynamics of the GOP presidential race. But a Santorum victory in either of them could give him a boost ? for a day at least ? while shining a light on Romney's troubles with conservative voters who long have been skeptical of his candidacy.

"This is a big day for us to see whether all the work that we put in in the past few weeks, when not so much attention was paid here as to Florida and Nevada, pays off," Santorum said at a Denver rally a night before the contests got under way.

Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator and fierce anti-abortion rights opponent, bypassed Nevada and Florida to essentially camp out in Colorado and Minnesota, spending the past week assailing Romney to lay the groundwork among conservatives who dominate. Santorum has portrayed himself as the only conservative choice in those caucus states.

In recent days, Romney has sensed a Santorum threat and has sought to prove that he, too, has strong conservative stances on social issues, despite a history of reversing himself on abortion and gay rights.

Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul also are on ballots in Colorado and Minnesota, but neither has aggressively competed in the states.

The latest step in the month-old nomination fight comes as President Barack Obama's campaign is asking top fundraisers to support a Democratic-leaning outside group that is backing the president's re-election bid as it works to compete with the tens of millions of dollars collected by Republican-backed outside groups in the presidential race.

It's a reversal for Obama, who has long been opposed to "super" political action committees, which can spend unlimited amounts of cash to influence elections. And it comes at a time when Romney is in a position of strength, after his allied groups successfully beat back challenges by opponents early in the primary season.

Heading into Tuesday, Romney leads in the hunt for delegates to the Republican nominating convention this summer, with 101, while Gingrich has 32. Santorum and Paul trail with 17 and 9 respectively, according to The Associated Press count. Colorado has a total of 36 delegates, including 33 up for grabs while Minnesota has a total of 40 delegates, with 37 at stake. Missouri has no delegates at stake as it holds what amounts to a beauty contest. Instead, Missouri will award its 52 delegates through a system of caucuses and conventions, starting March 17.

In Minnesota, Eric Radtke, 32, was looking for the party's best hope to defeat incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama in the fall and said he planned to vote for Romney because of that.

"Every time I hear him he seems to exude the level of respect for this country that I think it deserves," said Radtke, a telecommunications salesman from Shakopee, Minn.

Terry Groetken couldn't disagree more. The 71-year-old retired optical salesman from Plymouth, Minn., said he would have to "hold my nose" to vote for Romney in November if he wins the nomination because he doesn't trust him to stay consistent on core conservative principles. Groetken planned to cast his vote for Gingrich, saying "He's a bulldog."

On Monday night, Santorum continued his criticism of Romney, calling him an unfit candidate and warning that Republicans were heading toward defeat if Romney were the nominee.

"A Romney nomination would not be in the best interest of us wining the general election and we need to have a conservative alternative. And my feeling is that Speaker Gingrich sort of had his chance in the arena and came up short in Florida and Nevada," Santorum told reporters in Golden on Monday.

Earlier, Romney went after Santorum's time in the Senate as "not effective" because of his past support for spending on pork-barrel projects. Santorum flatly countered that Romney was "uniquely unqualified."

The Specific Legitimate Cure To Dieting | New Health and Fitness

New Health And Fitness.Org - Health Information You Can Use

What?s the real solution to having to diet? Not dieting at all, but actually changing your life for the better. That?s the only way to promote real healthy change, but also to keep the results that you gain as well. With that in mind, a book my friend read is the program that teaches you this, as well as how to lose weight the right way.

Isabel Del Los Rios is someone who?s battled through the same problems that you?ve had. She?s had weight problems, and has been left wondering what possible answer is there to help.

That?s how The Diet Solution Program was born. This is a method of healthy eating that stresses just taking care of your body, opposed to doing something crazy so that you can lose a few pounds in a few weeks.

Plus this is more sustained weight loss. Unlike most diets where you risk putting all the weight back on, that?s just not going to happen here. What you lose with Isabel Del Los Rios is gone for good.

Most diets aren?t that healthy, and provide you with eating options that aren?t much better for your body than being overweight is anyway. That?s why you?ve got to find a diet that stresses health over just getting results.

With this diet, you?re going to find that things will be different. They actually stress healthy foods, and getting enough vitamins and minerals throughout your day.

That?s because when you feel good, good things happen. If you feel great doing The Diet Solution Program, it?s going to be easier to stick to your plan. That means you?ll lose a lot more weight, but you?ll also find that you just feel better.

That leaves you feeling better, looking better, and you?ll be a lot less bloated as well. There?s no reason that you shouldn?t feel great all the time, so let Isabel Del Los Rios show you how.

Intel SSD 520 review roundup: Intel reliability, SandForce speeds starting at $149

There's plenty of SSD options out there, but Intel's NAND drives are among the most well thought of, simply because they're so reliable. But, with the top speed of competing SSDs spiraling higher, Intel's rock-solid reputation may not be enough for some enthusiasts. Enter the SSD 520, with a performance SandForce SF-2281 controller and custom firmware (codenamed Cherryville) on board to ensure the 520 meets Chipzilla's demanding standards for stability. It's the result of a year and a half long collaboration between Intel and SandForce, and is available in both 7mm and 9.5mm thin form factors to fit any machine -- Ultrabook or otherwise. Aside from the SandForce chip, the 520 packs Intel's finest 25nm NAND Flash, a SATA 6GB/s connection and its 550MB/s reads and 520MB/s writes can be had for $149 in 60GB garb and prices escalate up to a grand for 480GB. Naturally, as this is Intel's effort to snatch back the performance market, a raft of reviews have been written about the SSD 520.

So, how does the 520 stack up? Well, Intel's so confident in the 520 that it's backed the SSD with a five-year warranty. Though its performance doesn't drastically outpace its competition, Storage Review found the drive to be on par with the current speed king, OCZ's Vertex 3 in its benchmarks -- and also found performance and stability to be quite good in both enterprise use and in RAID arrays. Meanwhile, AnandTech found that the 520's peak random write speeds quite similar to its sequential reads during testing, which shows how well the optimized firmware works with the NAND. Hot Hardware thought the 520 to be comparable to other SandForce-equipped SSDs, but in terms of power consumption, Tom's Hardware found Intel's latest to be a power hog. Generally, all the reviewers were in agreement: the 520 is a speedy SSD, but you pay a hefty premium for Intel's reputation for churning out reliable drives. Only time will tell if the 520 can deliver the reliability we want, but there's plenty of performance info to be had in the reviews listed below.

Adventures Of A New MilWife: Mickey's Backyard BBQ

Our family has had the pleasure of participating in Mickey's Backyard BBQ twice so far. We love it and more importantly, our son loves it! The show includes rope tricks, country music from a live country-western band and line dancing.

Like Disney's other two dinner shows, the?Spirit of Aloha Luau?and the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review, the BBQ can be purchased with credits from?Disney's Dining Plan?or you can pay out of pocket when you make your reservations...up to 180 days in advance (highly recommended). If you're not using dining credits, the cost for the dinner show is $54.99 for adults (ages 10 and up) and $31.99 for children (ages 3-9). Children under 3 are welcome to share with someone else in the party. The BBQ is set up buffet style with long picnic tables around the room.?

The most important thing I can tell you about the BBQ is that unlike the other dinner shows, the BBQ seating is NOT pre-arranged...it's first come, first serve meaning that if you want a good seat, you HAVE to get there early...like REALLY early. The show starts at 6:30 but I would recommend getting to the pavilion no later than 5:30...5 would be better. Also keep in mind that the show is at Disney's Fort Wilderness resort and NOT at Wilderness Lodge (a common mix up). Once you arrive at Fort Wilderness, either by your own vehicle or by Disney bus, you'll have to use the resort's internal bus system to get to the pavilion. It WILL take longer than you expect to get there so be sure to leave early. Also, since the show is in a pavilion, there is a chance that it will be canceled due to weather. It's covered so there's some protection but just be aware of the possibility.

Don't worry about what to do to keep the kiddos busy when you arrive early...Disney has horseshoes, sidewalk chalk, hoola hoops and even some of the characters come out for meet and greets before they open up the pavilion. If it's warm/hot out they'll also serve lemonade to keep everyone well hydrated.

The biggest reason to arrive early is to get a good seat for the show but don't worry too much if you don't get a table right at the front because the best part about the BBQ is that the characters will dance with your children and not just in front of the main center stage. There are painted squares around the pavilion. Each of the squares is where the characters will all rotate and dance with kids in addition to the center area. The characters that come are Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. They will NOT go table to table so be prepared to go to them.?

Warning: there will be children (and their parents) who are pushing and want to get autograph books signed-which btw, is not encouraged but they usually clear out early. There are three different "dance sets" so don't panic when the characters leave to take a break after the first set-they will come back. It's a good time to get some food and drinks. Speaking of which, the BBQ offers a couple different salads, cole slaw, beans, mac n cheese, corn on the cob, cornbread, bbq chicken, ribs, hot dogs and hamburgers. Dessert is terribly good...freezers FULL of ice cream bars. It's one of my husband favorite things. In addition to the lemonade, iced tea, beer and wine are available and included in the cost of the show. When you go to get an alcoholic drink, the table is on the far end of the pavilion, away from the other drinks and you are permitted to take two at a time but may return for more but please drink responsibly. Also, if you're on the young-ish side, you should know that the BBQ is one of only two places at Disney where I've been carded which at this point in life is a compliment but it can be a pain if you forget your ID.

One of my concerns the first year we took the boy was that he was going to be too intimidated to dance with the characters because he had only just turned two and hadn't had a whole lot of experience with things like that. He was a bit nervous but as long as we were with him, he LOVED it. Our friends went with us that year and they had two girls 8 and 6 and a 4 yr old boy who all really enjoyed it.?

This year we returned-the boy was 3yrs old. In addition to our son, our daughter (2 months) and two of their cousins (7 yr old girl and 6 month old boy) joined us. Our son (loud, typical boy) and the 7 yr old (who is a somewhat shy little girl) had a blast. As for the babies, our daughter slept through most of it because we had a table closer to the back and the 6 month old surprisingly loved it and refused to miss any of it by sleeping. We were able to nurse both babies at the show without a problem (although we both used nursing covers).

The show technically ends at 8pm but you're free to leave whenever you are done. It's a very laid back dinner show with some really fun entertainment. I recommend it especially if you have kids in the 3-9 range.
